Javascript must be enabled in your browser for both the rollovers on the Mistakes Examples pages and the Flashcards on the Facts pages to work.

Monitor Resolution

This site is designed for monitor resolutions of 1152x720 or greater (1024x640 is also workable). If your monitor is set to 800x600 or less you will need to scroll down to use each flashcard.

At present the site design is not fully liquid (in particular, for the images used to show mathematical expressions), so setting a smaller font size will have unexpected consequences for the layout. On the other hand, if you set a larger font size in your browser, the layout will scale, but the images will not.

Browser Selection/Known Issues

In addition to the use of Javascript, this site uses cascading style sheets (CSS) for layout. Some browsers are not fully compliant with CSS standards. The site makes use of some workarounds, but not all issues are easy to resolve. The author is not a CSS guru, but does want the site to work for as many users as possible.

Netscape and Internet Explorer versions prior to version 5 are not expected to handle the CSS correctly.

Windows PCs

• Internet Explorer versions 5 and 6 do not adhere to standards for width in the box model and do not handle transparency in png image files. Hacks have been used to address these issues. By version:
  • Version 5: Untested
  • Version 6.0: Extra bar appears under the navigation bar; could be regarded as a "feature" (see bottom of this page); otherwise works fine

• Internet Explorer for Macintosh is no longer supported by Microsoft and should not be used (it is time for users to migrate to another browser). There are numerous issues with this browser.

Accessibility

• Because of its ability to "Zoom" all content, Opera is suggested when larger font sizes are required.
